Round 6 of the Pro MX Championship headed north to the Sunshine State in Toowoomba for what would be some of the deepest ruts that we have seen all series! The technical circuit would put riders and machines to the test with sunny skies and chilly temperatures on the menu for ‘Retro Round’!

The BCP HAS Honda Junior Development Team fronted a full three rider lineup with reigning National Junior MX Champion Seth Shackleton steering his BCP Honda CRF250R to a strong 7th place in Moto 1 of the MX3 class after starting outside of the top 20. Shackleton would end up 10th overall for the day and in doing so holds on to 7th place in the MX3 title chase with just two rounds to go. The Western Australian 16 year old is the highest placed junior rider in the ultra competitive class!

“I really felt like I had good track speed in that first Moto,” said Shackleton.
“But I shut off a little early into the first turn and got spat out the back. I really struggled in that second Moto with the deep ruts trying to find a rhythm but we’ll go back now and keep preparing to finish strong in the final two rounds. Definitely some positives to be taken away from this weekend!”

Shackleton’s team-mate Leah Rimbas did a fantastic job in her cameo appearance in the MXW class finishing a solid 7th place overall against the best senior women in the country!

“That was such a tough track for everyone out there but I actually enjoyed working on my ruts throughout the day,” said Rimbas.
“It was so much fun battling with these girls and I’m going to keep doing what I’ve been doing trying to improve each ride.”

Jacob Salih has had a horror run of injuries throughout the last two years and is just now getting back to full speed showing signs of what he is capable of. 17th place overall for the Toowoomba round is something to build on heading into the final two rounds.

“It’s been a real mental battle for me returning from back to back broken legs,” said Salih.
“I would feel awesome all week and then a switch would flick on race day and I just couldn’t ride like myself. It was good this weekend to finally start to race like I know I can and battle with some of the fast guys in the class.”

The penultimate round of Pro MX will be held at MX Farm in Queensland August the 11th with the final round at QMP in Queensland just 7 days later.
