It was a busy yet successful weekend for the BCP Pro Circuit Honda Junior Development Team with riders participating in multiple disciplines while racing on three different tracks over the course of two days.
Current National Junior MX Champion Benny Novak made his debut on Saturday aboard the team’s brand new Honda CRF150R race bike when he lined up at the Maitland ‘King of MX’ Qualifier! This would be his first race for the year on board the smaller machine after solely racing the CRF250R up until this point in 2019. Novak would storm to victory in all three motos with wins of over 30 seconds in each event.
“I’m literally blown away with the performance of the 150,” said Novak.
“The engine is just plain and simply amazing and was pulling away from the 85’s down the straights. I couldn’t believe the size of the holeshots we were getting on the little rocket! I’m really excited to get to race the CRF150R alongside my 250 for the remainder of the year, and its awesome that I get to defend my National Championship on it come October.”
Benny Novak lined up the following day at Nowra, NSW on board the 250cc machine this time and once again had a terrific day earning himself the overall win while taking two out of three moto wins.
Novak’s BCP Pro Circuit Honda team mate Dominic Walker tried his hand at Off Road over the weekend and was rewarded with third place on the podium as the Victorian Off Road Series hit Tallarook. A terrific effort considering this was his first Off Road event!
“I had no idea what to expect out there but we just thought that we would have some fun and try something different,” said Walker.
“I ran my good MX race bike suspension out there which was just way too stiff for that type of terrain we were on, but I had a blast. It’s good to mix it up sometimes and I’m stoked to get my Honda CRF250R up on the podium in a championship race.”
Team Manager Lee Hogan is proud of his riders efforts as the team approaches the half way point of the season.
“I’m really happy with how the team have been going this year,” said Hogan.
“They’re a great bunch of families and I couldn’t ask for any more effort from the riders. Madi Healey has been a revelation this year and has a nice little win streak up and running, Benny Novak has really found some good form in recent weeks with plenty of victories and podiums so far in 2019, and Dominic Walker has been getting stronger and stronger each race with plenty of good results under his belt. We’ll just keep taking it one race at a time and enjoying at time at the race tracks.”
All three team riders will next head to Mildura in Northern Victoria for the penultimate round of the Victorian Junior MX Titles.
