BCP Yoshimura Honda Junior Development Team rider Darci Whalley has started her 2022 season campaign in fine form with a dominant win at the ‘King of MX’ Qualifier over the weekend, held in Moree, NSW! The young 14 year old from Gladstone in Central Queensland had just recovered from Covid and finished her period of isolation Saturday morning with just enough time for the family to do the 10 hour drive to race Sunday morning.
Whalley was in dominant form winning all of her Junior 250cc girls races while also finishing an impressive third place overall in the boys class.
“I felt really good on the bike today and it was awesome to holeshot all my races,” said Whalley.
“To be honest it just felt so good to get out of the house and ride my CRF250R again. I’ve been having so much fun on the new bike and to be locked down was really frustrating.”
Team mate Hixson McInnescontested Round 1 of the Victorian State Junior MX titles at Shipwreck Coast over the weekend with an impressive day minus a first race crash that had the Honda rider chasing through the pack from last place to an eventual 6th. The kid from Cooma in NSW would finish third place in the final two motos of the day to give him 4th overall for Round 1.
Team manager Lee Hoganis happy with the team’s early stages of 2022!
“It’s good to see Hixson starting to find his feet and continuing to battle with the older boys in his class,” said Hogan.
“He still has two years as a junior so we’ll continue to develop him and work on his weaknesses which at the moment seems to be his starts and the odd occasional crash.”
Hogan continued!
“Darci has been such a good find for us over the off season and she has a huge future ahead of her. It’s great for her to start the season with a dominant win and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds for her.”
