BCP Honda Factory Junior Team rider Hixson McInnes has been crowned Victorian State Junior MX Champion in the A Grade 250cc class for 2023! Riding his BCP Honda CRF250R the 15 year old NSW rider put together an impressive championship campaign not finishing off the podium in all four rounds of the title chase. Winning two rounds along the way, combined with a second overall and an intelligent 3-3-2 for third overall at the final round to wrap up the championship!
“It feels really good to get this state title in my final year of juniors,” commented McInnes after the event.
“I felt myself starting to tighten up a bit thinking about the title out there in the first couple of races, but for the final moto I got a great start and just rode a smart race to bring it home. I’m really looking forward to Darwin and seeing what we can do come the National Junior Championships in a few weeks time.”
Team manager Lee Hogan was there to witness the moment at Traralgon where all the hard work paid off for the young Honda rider!
“It doesn’t matter how many championships you get you still can’t help but feel the pressure and the nerves when they start to come into play,” said Hogan.
“Everybody deals with their nerves differently but for Hixson he just started charging those corners a bit too much and over-riding! It was good to see him finish that final moto riding the way he has throughout the rest of this season, wrapping up the title with a smile on his face.”
The entire BCP Honda Factory Junior Team consisting of Hixson McInnes, Darci Whalley and Seth Shackleton will now bump up their final weeks of training prior to the National Junior MX Titles kicking off July 11th in Darwin.
