The bottomless sand of WA’s AJS Motocross Track was the site of last weekends ‘King of the Sand’ Motocross event held annually! With some of Australia’s best and well known MX talent on hand to showcase their sand skills!
BCP HAS Honda Junior Development Teamriders Seth Shackleton and Leah Rimbas both had impressive rides over the weekend with Seth Shackleton winning the Junior 250cc category with moto scores of 2-1-1! While Leah Rimbas impressed greatly as a junior riding up in the senior ‘Queen of the Sand’ category, finishing a strong second place on the day to current Women’s National MX Champ and World Class racer Charlie Cannon on board her Factory Honda machine, with moto scores of 3-2-2!
Seth Shackleton now makes it back to back weekends on the top step of the podium with the Manjimup 15000 event just one week prior!
“It’s been a solid couple of weekends here in WA and I’m happy to come away with wins at Manjimup and King of the Sand,” said Shackleton.
“We’re looking forward to taking this momentum into the next round of Pro MX in two weeks time in Murray Bridge, SA.”
Leah Rimbas has used this weekend’s experience racing against the best in the business as valuable lessons learned going into the next round of the MXW class at Pro MX being held at Murray Bridge.
“It was so good to get to measure where I’m at against Charlie because I rarely get to race her,” said Rimbas.
“We’ve still got a bit of work to do but I’m happy with a second place today and very much looking forward to lining up against the girls at Murray Bridge in a couple of weeks.”
Team principal Lee Hogan is happy with where the team is at as we approach the half way point of the season.
“We’ve had some great results so far this season and everyone is working on being the best they can be,” said Hogan.
“It’s going to be great come Murray Bridge where all three of our team riders will be racing together and under the same tent for the first time in 2024.”
The next round of Pro MX will be held at the Murray Bridge circuit in SA on June 23rd!
