Momentum gained for McInnes at Gillman Pro MX Rd4
Round 4 of the Pro MX Championshipswere held at the Gillman Motocross track in Adelaide, SA over the weekend with incredible track conditions and equally impressive racing in all classes. BCP Yoshimura Honda Junior Development Team rider Hixson McInnescontinued taking positive steps from previous rounds with two consistent races up inside the top 15, however making life relatively hard for himself with average starts throughout the day having to charge through the pack.
“My consistency and fitness is coming along nicely but my starts keep letting me down,” said McInnes.
“I know my technique is good and my bike is a rocket, I just think I’m getting caught up in the moment and not staying calm enough when the gate drops. The team and myself are really focused on getting up inside the top 10 and battling with the front runners for the last half of the MX3 series.”
With heavy rain forecast for the whole weekend, racers and spectators alike were treated with perfect track conditions on Sunday after intermittent rain showers Saturday provided the perfect platform for a deep and technical track. Team manager and Pro MX host Lee Hogan was happy with his rider’s progress at Gillman!
“For Hixson it’s just a matter of piecing it all together at the same time,” said Hogan.
“He has the speed, the fitness is coming along nicely and we’ve developed a great motorcycle for him to get the job done. Once Hixson believes he’s meant to be at the pointy end of the field battling with these older boys we’ll see him up there regularly. He’s certainly got the potential to be a top 10 rider in this class.”
McInnes sets his sights next to Maitland, NSW for Round 5 of the Pro MX Championship on June 26th.
