The Northam and District Motorcycle Club hosted the final Round of the WA Senior State Championships over the weekend on a fast and flowing circuit.
BCP Factory Honda Junior Development Team rider Seth Shackleton was the star performer of the day participating in the hotly contested MX3 class and put on a dominant display of riding going 1-1 to secure the championship for 2023.
“This was a tough one because back at round 1 I won the first moto but we had a freak mechanical incident on the start line with the electrics and I couldn’t start the race. So for the whole series I was playing catch up,” said Shackleton.
“But we managed to win the rest of the motos and coming into the final race today there was only 3 points in it. So it was basically a case of winner takes all! I was in second place behind Patrick (Butler) for the first few laps but made the pass and pulled out a bit of a gap to take the win.”
The 2023 MX3 WA State Title trophy will go up on the mantelpiece next to the 250cc Junior WA State Title trophy alongside the National Junior number 1 plate in what was a perfect trifecta for the young Western Australian who still has another year of juniors to go in 2024!
“We’re fortunate to have Seth on board and just try to provide him and his family with the support and backing to go do his thing out there on the track,” said Team Manager Lee Hogan.
“It’s not very often someone like Seth comes along here in Australia and with another year to go with us at Team Honda for 2024 I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him. Whether that be chasing his dreams overseas or trying to win as many championships here in Australia as he can.”
Seth will participate in the exciting MX3 category at next years 2024 Pro MX series while also competing in local State Championships and the National Junior MX Title being held in his home state of WA at the Bunbury circuit.
