BCP Yoshimura Honda Junior Development Team rider Darci Whalleyhas secured the 2022 Victorian Junior MX Championship in the junior girls category after a dominant display over the weekend on board her Honda CRF250R, clean sweeping all three of her motos contested at Outtrim for the final round.
After round 1 of the series was cancelled due to a major on-track injury and round 3 was cut short to two motos due to extreme weather, the junior girls championship was decided over 8 points scoring races. Whalley from Central Queensland was in a league of her own clean sweeping both rounds 1 and 3 while winning 7 our of the 8 motos contested.
“Today was such a fun day on the bike. And other than an average start in moto 1 off the slippery concrete gate everything pretty much went to plan today,” said Whalley.
“I’m so happy with my race bike and today was literally my first time trying the new Michelin Starcross 6 tyres. I can’t believe how good they work!”
“We’ll keep our head down and work super hard with the National Junior Titles just over three weeks away now, I can’t wait!”
Team Manager Lee Hoganis proud of Whalley’s efforts and confident in her form leading into the National Championship.
“It’s always difficult to know for sure coming into the National Junior Titles just where you sit in the big scheme of things,” said Hogan.
“But I’m certain we’re somewhere in the mix and that Darci will give it her best shot. She did so well today wrapping up the championship against some real good competition and deserves that number 1 plate with all the hard work she’s been putting in.”
The National Junior Titles will commence September 28th at the Rockhampton Motocross Track in Central Queensland.
