BCP Pro Circuit Honda Junior Development Team rider Madi Healey has had a terrific start to her 2019 junior girls campaign over the weekend by dominating proceedings at the Wonthaggi round of the Gippsland Centre MX Series. The 14 year old from Shepparton, Victoria holeshot all three races over the weekend before storming off to big wins on a rough and technical circuit.
“I’m feeling so comfortable on the Honda since signing with the team for 2019,” said Madi.
“The first round of our state titles are at Colac in a couple of weeks so it was great to have a hitout here at Wonthaggi on a similar surface. The bike feels great and I’m riding the best I’ve ever ridden! I’ve been working really closely with Lee (Hogan) on getting my starts sorted and some other parts of my technique and its really paying off. I can’t wait to get our championships under way!”
Team manager Lee Hogan sees the value and importance of supporting women’s racing in motocross.
“For as long as I can remember both myself and Honda have played a big role in women’s motocross. With help from Honda I started the ‘Honda Girls on the Gas’ program back in 2006 that ran for many years supporting and sponsoring stars such as Taylor Jones and multi time winner Jess Moore. And in recent years we’ve had the pleasure of sponsoring superstar Tanesha Harnett through the BCP Pro Circuit Honda Factory Junior Team who won three championships for Honda in 2017 and 2018. And who now continues her long standing association with Honda as a senior under the ‘Ride Red’ program. Madi Healey to me was the next in line to fly the flag for Honda in junior racing and with a two year contract in place for 2019 and 2020 I believe she has the ability and the equipment to get the job done.” said Hogan.
“I’m so happy to see the improvement that she’s made since signing with the team and this win is well deserved.”
Madi Healey will join her Honda team mates Benny Novak and Dom Walker on the 23rd and 24th March at Round One of the Victorian Junior MX titles that are to be held at Colac.
