Freshly signed BCP Honda Factory Junior Team rider Seth Shackleton has started his 2023 East Coast campaign in strong style this weekend with solid results racing two separate classes at the AMX MX Open held at the Wonthaggi circuit in Victoria!
The young 14 year old Western Australian raced both the Junior 250cc class up against the older 15 year old riders while also participating in the MX3 class that allows riders up to 17 years of age. Shackleton finished a solid 2nd place overall in the Junior category while securing 4th place in the MX3! The highlight of the weekend for the Honda rider being a super strong 2nd place in the final MX3 moto!
“It’s been such a whirlwind since we arrived from WA just over a week ago,” said Shackleton.
“The last MX3 race I felt really good on the bike and got an awesome start but the rest of the weekend I was just over-riding a little bit and cooking myself near the end of the races. I’m ready to dig my heels in now and work towards round one of the Pro MX series that kicks off in 6 weeks at Wonthaggi.”
Team manager Lee Hogan is impressed with his new team rider on debut!
“Seth has his sights set firmly on the MX3 class for Pro MX which I’m really impressed with for a 14 year old kid,” said Hogan.
“He’s such a hard worker and he knows what he needs to work on now over the next six weeks! This weekend was good for Seth to see where he is at with speed and fitness and he should walk away with some real positives.”
Round 1 of the Pro MX Series kicks off at Wonthaggi March 5th!
